Here are some tips to help you stick to your 2013 Resolutions!
- Make one, or two, or three, but don’t go overboard, limit your resolutions so you can focus on them.
- Pick something that would improve your life (organization) or that really bothers significant people in your life. (anger)
- Tell people about it! This way, you’ve got people who will make sure you’re sticking to it.
- Break it down into manageable parts (signing up for the gym, buying veggies, walking 10 mins/day)
- Put each step and follow up notes on your calendar, check in with yourself weekly to evaluate how things are going. (Calendars pictured above available here for free!)
- Reward yourself! (new clothes, perhaps?) Incentives will promote your new behavior.
- Gather support. Find a friend or two who plan to make the same change, or find a support group that focuses on your interest, this will make a huge difference! (Find group for almost any focus in LA on the Group List from my Resource Page )
- Don’t be too hard on yourself! If you stumble, get back up instead of feeding yourself negative thoughts that will lead you to quit.
- Journal! Find the basics here. Track what works and what doesn’t. Trust me, it’s a great tool!
- Find a therapist. A trained professional can help you reach your goals and keep them for the long run!
